Which drinks are harmful to the body when drunk on an empty stomach?
Many people are accustomed to drinking their favorite beverages such as coffee, tea or fresh juices on an empty stomach early in the morning, but research has shown that doing so can be harmful to the body.
According to a report published in Al-Arabiya.net, doctors recommend abstaining from drinking tea and coffee on an empty stomach as doing so can create an acid imbalance in the body and lead to dehydration and inflammation.
Foods that should be avoided in hot weather
Drinking coffee on an empty stomach releases certain hormones cortisol from the stomach which causes heartbeat, anxiety and nervousness, according to a report published by Interia website.
Sour juices are high in vitamin C, which boosts the immune system, but drinking small amounts can also increase heartburn and increase heart rate, the report said.
People suffering from acidosis are advised not to use it. Tomato juice, for example, increases the production of acid in the stomach which can cause pain or indigestion.
Soft drinks
The use of soft drinks on an empty stomach has also been warned as they increase the liver, pancreas and stomach function. They damage the teeth. Their use can cause other problems as well as death.

A study published last year in the journal Comprehensive Internal Medicine found that people who drank soft drinks were 26% more likely to die prematurely than those who did not. Drinks are rare.
Another study published in the journal Circulation found that consuming 12 ounces of soda a day increased the risk of heart attack by 20%.
